Sport is very important in rural communities such as ours, and is a priority at Beaufort Secondary College. We offer an extensive Sports program that gives our students the opportunity to gain a wide range of sporting experiences. At all times, the major emphasis is upon participation and we pride ourselves in having an extremely high participation rate.
At school level, students are divided into four houses – Kambara (Green), Taltarni (Red), Tanaranga (Gold) and Wandarra (Blue). House sporting competitions take place in swimming, athletics, cross country, football, netball, basketball and tennis.
At inter-school level, Beaufort Secondary College competes against other like rural schools as part of the Mid West Complex of schools. Lake Bolac College, Hawkesdale College, Mortlake College and Derrinallum College are the other four schools who compete in sports such as swimming, athletics, cross country, triathlon, netball and football.
Beaufort Secondary College also competes as part of the Ballarat Secondary Schools Sports Association (BSSSA) in sports including swimming, athletics, football, netball, basketball, volleyball, soccer and badminton.
Students who are successful at BSSSA level qualify to advance to firstly Western Zone and then State Level. A number of teams and individuals have represented the school at the highest levels of competition in various sports.
