Beaufort Secondary College is committed to keeping parents fully informed about their children and the school generally. Information is disseminated to parents in a number of different ways.
1. Individual Students
Communication with parents is via:
Semester and interim reports and at Parent-Teacher Interviews (see under “Student Programs”)
It is expected that students will have and use a school diary. The diary should be kept neat and contain the student’s homework tasks to be completed and work deadlines. This is primary way for teachers to communicate with parents and form teachers check that students are using it effectively. Home group teachers also monitor the use of diaries by students. If there is a concern in this area, teachers will call parents and discuss ways to promote its effective use.
Normally this will initially be by phone, although it may be followed up in writing. Where the issue involved is a matter of student discipline or welfare, it will normally be from the year level co-ordinator or Assistant Principal
2. Whole-School News and Information
A school newsletter is published every Thursday. A hard copy is given to students and it can be downloaded from this website.

The college also liaises closely with the Pyrenees Advocate and significant stories of wider interest will be published there.
Other means of communication include:
Parent and Year Level Handbooks
Through PFA Meetings
At Parent meetings
It is expected that parents will keep the college informed of any matter that will impact upon their children’s learning. As far as attendance is concerned, it is expected that parents will not allow their children to be absent without a valid reason, and will inform the school of the reason for any absence.
